Assesment of port capacity of Indonesia Kendaraan Terminal (IKT)
Port of Indonesia Kendaraan Terminal (IKT) is vehicle handling terminal which is located in Jakarta, Indonesia. It has become the sole car terminal in Indonesia since 2008, thus it plays an important role of car distribution throughout Indonesia as well as International countries.
However, nowadays it faces problem regarding capacity particularly storage yard. This is indicated by the Yard Occupancy Ratio (YOR) reached almost 112% in 2012 which is considered high. It means that it might lead to bottleneck. Therefore, it is essential to do the research regarding the terminal capacity especially the storage area to investigate whether the capacity still meet the requirement in the future. In this case, the study will focuses in 2020.
The general objective of this study is to assess the capacity of IKT particularly the storage yard in 2020. The projection analysis has been conducted to project cargo throughput until 2020. In addition, the author has investigated the capacity of storage yard to obtain information when the bottleneck occurs. From the analysis, it has been derived that the congestion happened in 2017. Consequently, some measures have been proposed to overcome this problem. In this study, there were two solutions provided which are the dwell time reduction and expansion of storage area. Based on analysis, the dwell time pricing of IKT needs to be improved to stimulate the dwell time decrease
On the other hand, the author developed a simulation to model the movement of cargo number. The model has been validated with the observed data obtained in 2013. Thus, the simulation is continued to model the cargo amount for the whole year in 2020, taking into account the export and import. Eventually, an analysis of Yard Occupancy Ratio (YOR) has been presented as well. The results of simulation together with proposed solutions were discussed concluded that there should be additional yard of 17 Ha at port of IKT so that IKT is able to operate properly until 2020
