The influence of archipelago pendulum system in shipping network policy associated with the readliness of Tanjung Priok as domestic container hub port

Indonesia is developing the archipelago pendulum system to create a distribution channel of the  ports from  west  region to  east  region of  Indonesia for  domestic trade. This  study analyses is about the readiness of  Tanjung Priok port as one designated port in shipping corridors to serve as a domestic container hub port in this pendulum system.

Tanjung Priok port is still need improvement and development of domestic container terminal capacity as the  impact of an increase in domestic container flows. Therefore the main question of the research is : How can the port  of Tanjung Priok  capture  the mark.et of domestic  containers  from the Archipelago  Pendulum System with improvement  and a development   strategy   in  port   facilities   in  terms  of  changes  in  flows,  ships   and cargoes?   And followed by research questions, such as:   changes in flows, ships, and cargoes will happen in the port, between t~e port.  and the hinterland of port of Tanjung Priok, the facilities needed by the port of TanJung  Pnok to present port performance in terms of efficiency and  quality, the effective investments in port facilities to  present adequate capacity related the increasing domestic container throughput through port of Tanjung Priok, implementation  of  the  rules  and  regulations  related  to  the  pendulum system  in  the operational  policy  of  the  company, the  performance in terms of  costs  and  service  of stakeholders (authorities and users of the port services) require from port of Tanjung Priok as the critical success factors for port of Tanjung Priok.
Data collection is obtained from Drewry, IPC and Tanjung Priok port, and other various sources. Another data collection is acquaired by conducted interviews with some experts in logistic, logistic association, trucking company and terminal personnel, also with person involved in pendulum system to obtained important issues related with pendulum system and the real condition in terminal operation and they have the important role in development, increasing investments and to support the Implementation of archipelago pendulum policies

The conclusions are  IPC II   which is controlled port of Tanjung Priok should undertake various strategic plans to improve the port infrastructur: and Efficiency such as optimazing berth capacity, berth working hour, and the other effort in terminal operation.  Tanjung Priok still exist  to capture the market of  domestic containers from the archipelago pendulum system with improvement and a development strategy in port facilities
