Implications of ICT for knowledge management in globalization
The purpose of this paper is to critically review the model of Hendriks and examine its suitability for the relationship of organizational knowledge management and information and communication technology (ICT). This study proposes that the impact of different organizational structures on knowledge management systems should be collectively considered. Tacit knowledge is definitely as critical as explicit knowledge in the enhancement of organizations. Action relatedness of organizational knowledge was emphasized in the model. The study intends to overcome the weakness of Hendriks’ model. The tension between knowledge workers and the organization should be investigated further when the model is adopted. Measurement of the effectiveness of ICT as a knowledge management tool should be considered.
