Frontline - Q4 2017
Tanker operator Frontline, now based in Bermuda, started life as Frontline AB in 1985, and was listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange from 1989 to 1997. In 1996 Norwegian shipping magnate John Fredriksen, through his company Hemen Holdings, acquired a controlling stake in Frontline. The company's operations were relocated to Bermuda in 1997, and it was listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange. Since being taken over by Fredriksen, Frontline has continued to grow, purchasing new vessels and absorbing companies such as London Overseas Freighters and Golden Ocean. In December 2011 it was announced that a new company called Frontline 2012 would be created to take on some of the debt and newbuild commitments of the existing company. Today, the Frontline group has slipped from being the largest tanker operator in the world. In November 2015, Frontline 2012 was re-integrated into Frontline, which could see the company rebuild itself into the largest global tanker operator once more.
