Investors Sought For 17 Tourism Projects
The investment coordinating board in Indonesia, Badan Koordinasi Penanaman Modal (BKPM), has offered 17 projects to investors for the development of three tourist destinations. The projects, worth USD2.9bn, pertain to Lake Toba in North Sumatra, Borobudur Temple in Central Java and Tanjung Kelayang on the Bangka Belitung Islands. The schemes include construction of hotels, golf courses and basic infrastructure, according to the BKPM's Chairman, Thomas Lembong, as cited by the Jakarta Post. The official noted that USD2.3bn will be spent on five projects for the Lake Toba destination, USD562mn on 10 projects to support Borobudur and the remaining fund will be used to build two hotels in Tanjung Kelayang. The required land, supporting regulations and licences for the project are already in place.
