ASEAN's shortlist of eight transport infrastructure projects to be potentially implemented under various PPP schemes resulting from the ASEAN PPP Programme bodes well for transport infrastructure development in ASEAN. The region will continue to register the highest construction growth in Asia and we highlight the Philippines and Indonesia as bright spots for transport infrastructure. A s hortlis t of eig ht trans port infras tructure projects to be potentially implemented under various s chemes of public-private partners hips (PPPs ) resulting from the ASEAN PPP Programme provides ups ide to our infrastructure sector growth forecas ts for ASEAN. The progamme aims at building the capacity of ASEAN Member States in preparing and delivering PPP projects and improving connectivity in the reg ion. We currently forecas t ASEAN's cons truction sector to grow by an annual averag e of 7.4% between 20 16 and 20 20 in real terms , with g rowth driven by efforts to addres s the hug e infras tructure deficit, high log is tics cos ts , urbanis ation and increas eregional connectivity. ASEAN's s hortlis t of eig ht trans port infras tructure projects is likely to g alvanis e private s ector participation in the reg ion. We high light Indones ia and the Philippines as brig ht s pots , with our outlook underpinned by large project pipelines and government initiatives .
