Maersk Line Indonesia intends to expand its coverage via its direct shipping service from eastern Indones ia to Malaysia in 20 14 . The move is in line with the company's efforts to capitalise on the opportunities created by the 2015 ASEAN Economic Community. Maersk has already benefited from a direct service linking the eastern part of Indonesia to its primary transhipment hub port in Tanjung Pelepas , Malaysia. The company now intends to add Bitung to its shipping network, which will enable Maersk to run two sailings per month, according to trade and marketing General Manager Muhammad Sofyan. The direct shipping from Bitung is expected to cut the exporters ' logistics costs by up to 20%, added Sofyan (Jakarta Post). This
